Pitch / track

Tier by tier

  1. 1

    Tribuna Monte Mario

The main stand with the best seats and press box.

  2. 2

    Tribuna Tevere

The opposite side stand, facing the hill of Monte Mario.

  3. 3

    Curva Nord and Curva Sud

The two ends, home of the ultras and the loudest atmosphere.

Seating tips

  • The running track puts the stands far from the pitch. For concerts the floor is closer to the stage.
  • The side stands (Tribuna) have the best view, the Curvas are behind the goals.
  • Summer concerts start in daylight, so bring sunscreen for the west-facing side.

Where to sit

  • Best for a concert

Lower rows of the Tribuna facing the stage

Close to the stage with a straight view. The running track keeps the stands away from the floor.

  • Best for football

    Tribuna Monte Mario or Tevere

The long sides give the best view of the pitch.

  • On a budget

    Curva Nord or Curva Sud

The cheapest tickets, behind the goals with the loudest fans.

  • In the shade

    Tribuna Monte Mario

For evening events the sun sets behind the Monte Mario hill, so this west side is in shade first. The Tevere side faces the low sun.

Work began in the late 1920s as part of the Foro Italico sports complex, but the war stopped it. The finished Stadio Olimpico opened in 1953 with a match between Italy and Hungary.

In 1960 it was the main stadium of the Rome Olympics, where Wilma Rudolph won three sprint golds. It went on to host four European Cup finals, including Liverpool's penalty win over Roma in 1984, in Roma's own home.

For the 1990 World Cup the stands were rebuilt and covered with a new roof. West Germany beat Argentina 1-0 in the final, and the stadium has since hosted Champions League finals and the opening game of Euro 2020.
