Pitch / track

Tier by tier

  1. 1

    Lower tier

Behind the running track, so a bit far from the pitch.

  2. 2

    Upper tier

Steep and covered by the roof, with a full view of the field.

Seating tips

  • The running track makes the lower rows quite far from the pitch. For concerts, choose the floor or the sides near the stage.
  • The roof covers the seats, the floor is open to the sky.
  • The sector numbers are printed at the gates. Follow them, as walking around inside is slow.

Where to sit

  • Best for a concert

    Lower tier facing the stage

Close to the stage with a straight view. The running track keeps the stands away from the floor.

  • Best for football

    Middle tier along the sides

The long sides give the best view of the pitch.

  • On a budget

    Upper tier behind the goals

The cheapest tickets, high but with a full view of the bowl.

  • In the shade

    Upper rows of any tier

The roof covers the stands but not the front rows of the lower tier.

The Praterstadion opened in 1931 for the Workers' Olympiad, a sports festival of the labour movement. It was one of the most modern stadiums of its time, and Austria's Wunderteam played here.

It hosted four European Cup finals, from Inter's win over Real Madrid in 1964 to Ajax beating Milan in 1995. A roof was added in 1986, and in 1992 the stadium was renamed after Ernst Happel, Austria's most successful coach.

After hosting the Euro 2008 final, the stadium became Vienna's top concert venue. In August 2024, all three of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour shows here were cancelled after police foiled a terror plot.
