Opens in January, France win the World Cup final in July

Leer la historia completa

France built the stadium for the 1998 World Cup in less than three years, on a former gasworks site in Saint-Denis. On 12 July 1998 Zinedine Zidane scored twice in the final as France beat Brazil 3-0.

On 13 November 2015, during a France-Germany friendly, three suicide bombers blew themselves up outside the gates as part of the Paris attacks. The match finished and the crowd left singing the Marseillaise.

The stadium was the main venue of the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. Its lower stand can roll back 15 metres to reveal a running track, then return for football and concerts.
