Ullevi

Scandinavia's biggest concert stadium, built for the 1958 World Cup

Ullevi in central Gothenburg is the largest stadium in Scandinavia and the place where the biggest concerts in the Nordic countries happen. Its wave-shaped roof hung from tall masts was very modern when it opened in 1958.

Tipy na místa

  • For concerts the pitch is a standing area. Get there early if you want to be near the stage.
  • The long sides under the roof are the best seats for both concerts and football.
  • There's a running track around the pitch, so the lower rows are further from the action than in a football-only stadium.

Long side facing the stage, upper tier

Under the roof with a full view of the stage and screens, and dry if it rains.

  • Nejlepší na fotbal

    Long sides near halfway

The best side-on view, though the running track puts you a little further from the pitch.

  • Levně

The cheapest seats, with a wide view of the whole show.

  • Ve stínu

For evening concerts the sun sets behind the west stand, so it's in the shade first.

Ullevi opens and hosts World Cup games

Přečíst celý příběh

Gothenburg built Ullevi for the 1958 World Cup, which Sweden hosted. Architects Fritz Jaenecke and Sten Samuelson gave it a roof hung from masts, so no pillars block the view.

In 1985 Bruce Springsteen played two nights here, and fans jumped so hard that the ground under the pitch sank. Since then Ullevi has hosted most of the biggest tours in Scandinavia.

It hosted the Euro 1992 final, when Denmark beat Germany, the 1995 World Athletics Championships and the 2004 UEFA Cup final. The local club IFK Göteborg plays its league games at the smaller Gamla Ullevi next door.
